In today’s world it’s difficult to believe that an industry as prominent and progressive as the AECO industry still does not have a software program that allows for all of the key players on a project to be on one platform, sharing project information instantly. Now imagine a world where that is possible and all of the software used to manage a project and the related business functions were integrated into one. What would that mean for your projects? How would that change the industry?
Enter IngeniousIO, a start-up tech company who is about to turn that dream into a reality with the development of five workplace applications… Owner/Developer, Owner’s Representative, Architect and Engineer, Contractor and Subcontractor.
Over the past 22 months, The Concord Group has been an integral partner collaborating with IngeniousIO on the development of the Owner/Developer and Owner’s Representative workplace applications. This may sound familiar, as we briefly introduced the software a few issues back.
In case you need a quick refresher, IngeniousIO software platform is a data driven, cloud-based application designed to manage the business management functions and project execution from design concept through to completion. It allows users to manage projects and stay connected with all stakeholders on the project in real-time on one platform through the use of connections with individual workspaces and domains.
From Owners to Subcontractors and Suppliers, IngeniousIO’s features are aligned with the needs of its users. It helps to reduce risks, improve project return on investment, prevent change orders, maintain project schedules, improve communication of pertinent project issues, manage supply chain of the build, etc.
Communication and the sharing of accurate information is essential in the success of a project. Similar to a conductor in an orchestra, IngeniousIO takes all of the brilliant, creative artists, and plans for how they’re all going to work together, in the right sequence, to create something beautiful.
The latest report from AIA indicates that on a national basis billings at architecture firms remain flat. This continues an approximately six month stretch of essentially flat billings indicating a softness in the indicators of future work. This is a sign of a potential slowdown in the economy that may be a precursor to a recession. The trend is reflected nationally with the only area of growth in billings being the West. All other regions report either flat or declining billings, including the Midwest. The economy in general is showing signs of slowing as GDP for the second quarter of 2019 increased at an annual rate of 2.1 % which is down from 3.1% reported in the first quarter of this year.
On average material pricing has remained relatively flat for the year compared to 2018. Some materials that are continuing to show increases are glass products and inputs to heavy construction such as stone, sand and gravel due to the continuing demand from the infrastructure sector.
Cement pricing is expected to rise with inflation but will level out by the end of year. Costs that are dropping or expected to drop are metals and lumber products which will most likely rebound by the end of year. The cost of gypsum products is dropping due to lower demand from the housing sector.
